HP Interactive Canvas

WPF Multi-User Application

The world's largest touchwall interface: 128 square feet? Many fingers? One UI? Four weeks? No problem!

We built the user interface for what was, at the time, the world’s largest interactive multi-touch wall. In four weeks. With no prior multi-touch experience.

In partnership with Obscura Digital, Stimulant created a multi-touch, WPF-based interface for a massive multi-touch wall measuring 16’ x 8’ (5m x 2.5m), to create a branded experience for HP at the D5: All Things Digital Conference.

Performance led us to use WPF to enable users to make music with multiple=

In a mere four weeks our development team wrote their own multi-touch framework that integrated with Obscura Digital’s custom IR-sensing, rear-projection multi-touch wall and provided an immersive and engaging interface for show attendees to explore.

The application included modules for browsing photos and videos from the event, real-time stock quotes, and RSS feed readers, a multi-user music maker and even a version of Pong™.

The piece was a huge success and hundreds of people had great fun with it. Darren even gave Martha Stewart a demo. In an interesting coincidence, this piece went live the night before Microsoft Surface was revealed onstage at the same conference by Steve Ballmer.

Creating interaction beyond the computer.

From desktop to device, multi-touch to gestural, and portable to permanent, Stimulant creates magical multi-user experiences that bring people together.
